'At 40, you are more confident and aware of your strengths'

Carrie Grant, 41, has coached pop acts such as Will Young, Charlotte Church and Lemar. Grant is involved in a campaign for the British Potato Council to promote healthy eating.

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...

Campaigning for the British Potato Council, and relaxing, having recently returned from shooting a reality series in South Africa. And looking after my new baby.

A phrase I use far too often is...

"That's fantastic."

I wish people would take more notice of...

Positivity and honesty. Positivity has an effect on everything we do, and there is too much negativism in the world. Honesty is fundamental in everything we do.

The most surprising thing that ever happened to me was...

Aged 16, having received my first record deal, I was advised to change my name to Carrie Grant for the screen. Ironically I then ended up marrying David, whose surname is Grant.

A common misconception of me is...

I'm a tough judge. I am tough, but fair.

I'm not a politician but...

There needs to be more world peace, and more of a basic level of truth within the political system. People require a change for the better, with more honesty coming through.

I'm good at...

Cooking.

But I'm very bad at...

Vacuuming.

In moments of weakness, I...

Eat chocolate.

You know me as a vocal coach, but in a truer life I'd have been a...

A forensic scientist because I'm quite analytical and I enjoy discovery through evidence and truth.

The ideal night out is...

Having dinner with friends. David and I have about three dinner parties a week with our friends. We operate an "open house" where friends can come and go. There is always cooking going on, and one of my most important principles is eating as a family.

The best age to be is...

40. At the age of 40, and especially as a woman, you are more confident, and you are more aware of your strengths and weaknesses than ever before. Also, you still have a long way to go.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is...

Love your neighbour as you love yourself.
