Weekend
Carrie Grant, 38 became a house hold name as a s vocal
coach on the BBc1 talent show Fame Academy. She is married to David
Grant, 47 who is also a s singing coach on the show.
The couple live in North London and have two children Olivia, 9 and
two yr old Talia.
'Friday night is take-away night, it gives us a break
from cooking and it's the perfect chance for the kids to have fun
learning about different cultures. Whether we're eating Greek , Chinese
or Indian we'll make an effort to play music from that country, the
girls will dress up in traditional clothes and we'll dance around
the house. I like to be in bed by 10:30pm as i'm an early riser and
because I have Crohns disease- A chronic illness that affects the
digestive system - I do need my sleep.
Saturday mornings i often have to be up at 7am to
go the CDUK studios
and coach performers who'll be singing that morning. Whether it's
Mel C or Atomic kitten they'll need to warm up their voices before
singing live. I'm normally home by 1pm and David will have made lunch,
so i'll spend the afternoon baking with my eldest daughter. We have
an open house policy so there's always people around and beds on the
floor, but in the summer we tend to live in the graden & swimming
pool.
But David and I need times to ourselves too, so sometimes
on Sat night we'll get a babysitter and go on a date. Sunday morning
the children get into our bed and when we get up David might make
us all smoked salmon and bagels. I'll battle to get the girls afro
hair into shape before going to our local Anglican Church. Sunday
afternoon is always very sociable- we have lots of people
over. There's always a great mixture of writers, singers directors
and students. We've got a huge snooker table and playing on it will
go on late into
the evening. When i was growing up I wasn't really allowed friends
over so now i like the house to be filled with laughter food &
music".
