Meet Carrie Grant
Carrie Grant, along with her husband David, is probably
the best known vocal coach in the UK. She first came into the public
eye as a vocal tutor on Pop Idol and Fame Academy, and then as a vocal
coach and judge in Comic Relief Does Fame Academy and Fame Academy
2. However, our Carrie's career covers a far broader area of the entertainment
than you might at first realise.
Starting out as a dancer on TV, Carrie moved into
presenting for children's television, working on such programmes such
as How Dare You for Tyne Tees, Freeze Frame and the BBC's Award winning
series Heart And Soul.
She then moved into session singing and soon became
one of the country's most respected, working with the likes of Diana
Ross, Roberta Flack, Rod Stewart, the Lighthouse Family, Fatboy Slim
and many others. With her husband David, she also recorded a gospel
album, Watching And Waiting, which went on to win them a prestigious
MOBO Award for best gospel album in 1998. Carrie was also developing
her vocal coaching and producing role with such well-known acts as
Take That, Melanie C, S Club, Will Young, Atomic Kitten, Lemar and
Charlotte Church.
However, it is of course her appearance as a vocal
coach on the high profile Fame Academy that has brought her to the
attention of a massive audience. Her interaction with the students,
and the supportive role she played, helped to bring the very best
out of the students. More recently, Carrie was seen fronting The Agents,
a CBBC production which saw Carrie oversee children promoting and
developing the entertainment careers of a selected child from their
school.
Carrie and David's latest project is BBC2's Facing
The Music where the duo teach people to sing for special events in
their lives, and you can watch this programme right through until
February 2005.
In the meantime, you can get your Carrie fix as she
